Poppy Ball - 9th November 2023

On Thursday 9th November, 53 members of the Royal Society and their guests attended a fantastic Poppy Ball at the Javea Golf Club.  The Society Chairman, Bob Hunt MBE, welcomed the guests, extending particularly warm greetings to the guests of honor, Councilors Claudia Fornes and Toni Molina, from the Javea Ayuntamiento who were representing the Mayor. Also welcomed were representatives from the Costa Blanca Branch of the Royal British Legion, Costa Blanca Aircrew Association, Rotary International Fellowship Costa Blanca, and Lorraine Henshaw's 'Super Troopers'.  The event, held to raise awareness of the RBL Poppy Appeal and raise funds for the appeal was a great success, assisted by an excellent meal provided by the Javea Golf Club staff and were thoroughly well entertained throughout the evening by Kenny's Musical Cabaret.  A very successful event at which everyone enjoyed themselves and, in the process, raised the grand sum of €300 which was presented to RBL President Roger Dawes at the end of the evening.
