The RSSG Press Statement regarding recent appalling violence and disorder

In response to the recent outbreaks of appalling violence and disorder across the country in the last few days, the Society has issued the following press statement:

PRESS STATEMENT (Tuesday 6th August 2024): Commenting on the current public disturbances, the Chairman of the Royal Society of St George (RSSG), Mr Nick Dutt, has issued the following statement on behalf of the Officers and Council of the Society:

"The Royal Society of St George is deeply dismayed by the violence and disorder that has broken out in some English towns and cities in recent days. We stand for loyalty, duty and service to England, and as such we deplore the appalling attacks on the men and women of our police service - the 'thin blue line' - upon whom we rely to preserve the King's Peace.

"Our hearts go out to all victims of violence and criminality at this difficult time. The nation needs a swift return to law and order, public safety, the protection of people and property, and community cohesion. We remain optimistic that traditional English values of decency, mutual respect and tolerance will ultimately triumph."
