Annual Wreath Laying & Cadet Parade

Annual Wreath Laying & Cadet Parade

On Saturday 26th April, the closest Saturday to St. George’s Day, the Royal Society of St. George held its annual wreath laying and cadet parade. Members of the Society and Branches laid wreaths in memory of all those that made the ultimate sacrifice, from England and the Commonwealth, so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

It was really good to see over 400 cadets from the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets Air Cadets and for the first time this year, we welcomed a contingent from the Police Cadets. Society Vice Chairman Cdr James Nisbet VR and the Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Hamza Taouzzale, took the salute.

This was followed by a short service at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey, where the Chairman of the Society, Mr Nick Dutt laid a wreath on behalf of the Society.

The Society has held this on the closest Saturday to St. George’s Day for nearly 100 years.

The Royal Society of St. George would like to thank all those that took part and supported the event behind the scenes to help make this such a successful event.
