St. George's Day Celebration
SAINT GEORGE'S DAY 2019.
Our branch celebration of St George's Day, 23rd April was a resounding success. We started at 6pm with a service in St Andrew's Church, (The Cathedral of the South Downs) led by Revd Colin Prichard. Pity we could not have the bells rung at 6pm for St George because building work was going on in the Spire above the bells.
We then walked across the Tye to Deans Place Hotel for our formal dinner. This turned out to be another superb part of the event. Great food and super service by the staff. An auction raised £75 for our branch funds and a further £209 was gained from our usual raffle.
Chairman Bob Peedle welcomed the guests and the response was given by the Lord Lieutenant, Peter Field. Also present was the new High Sheriff for East Sussex, Violet Hancock.
A lovely evening all round enjoyed by all.
